Final Blog Post

To learn more information about my family history I interviewed my Mom and Dad. They gave me a lot of helpful information that I then was able to use to create My Family Tree. I then emailed my Dad to receive more information because I did not have enough to create a Prezi and Infographic. With the information collected from both the interviews, my family tree, and my email I was able to put together a Prezi about my Dad's side of the family. Next I created an infographic about my Dad's side of the family that includes where the Wilkinson's originated from. Finally I used my family's secret brownie recipe to show how I make brownies.

I agree with this video. I can't remember the last time I completely turned my phone off or didn't have it. I use my phone all the time and one hundred percent agree with this video. When I was little there was no one on their phone all the time or constantly checking social media, I was always outside running around and playing with my neighbors. Our generation has transformed for sure. We look towards technology when were lonely or bored and instead we should really be talking to real life people or doing something more productive. I agree with this video and t definitely shows how our generation has transformed.

Thursday April 24

blog post by a teacher. I mean actually read it. Take it in. Think about it. And then, write about it. What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is.

I think that the teacher who wrote this is right about majority of it. We as students do worry about grades and stuff like that and sometimes do end up quitting. The main event is when hes laying in bed and thoughts are racing through his mind of his students and that he really does care about his students and he wishes that they would see more in themselves.

Monday April 21st

Reflect on your stop-motion animation project. How did it go? What worked? What didn't work? If you're not finished - why? If you are finished go in to detail about the project and what you learned. Give as much detail and information as possible.

I think my stop motion went well. It worked it looked like she was really walking until the bleachers and it liked like she was sliding. It was one of my favorite projects yet because it was a lot of fun and it wasn't really stressful until i didn't take my pictures. What didn't work is that Sarah wouldn't put her quick trip cup down so it's in majority of he pictures. I learned about how it's important to pay attention to details when taking pictures for a stop motion because if not then the pictures can look weird and from different angles and choppy. the project overall was really fun and I wasn't as stressed to finish it and preset it because it dn't involve speaking and projecting like some projects in the past.

What is your idea for your stop-motion animation? Explain yourself. Have you started taking photos? If not, when do you plan to take your photos? What is your action plan for today? What is your plan to GET SOMETHING DONE?

My plan for the stop motion animation is to either draw something and show something being drawn on a white board. I have not started taking photos I am going to do it over the weekend.  I am planning on helping Sarah do her stop motion animation.

Monday April 7th

What is stop motion animation? If you don't know, look it up! Explain.

A atop animation is when you make an object that can't move on it's own look like it moves. It's shown through different pictures taken after one another.

5 Frame Storyboard

Friday, April 4

Tell me about your 5 frame storyboard. What did you like about the project? What did you dislike? Was it hard to fit a story in to 5 images? Do you think you tell a clear story? What would you do differently if you could? Explain.
My 5 frame storyboard is about my dogs day. I like the project because it's wasn't too challenging to complete. I don't like how we had to take the pictures outside of class because it slipped my mind. I think my story board shows a clear story, it's a simple day in my dogs life. I would add more frames if i could do it differently.

What is a storyboard? If you don't know, what do you think it is? How are storyboards used? What are some different ways that storyboards can be made?

A story board is a story that is shown through pictures. I think they are used to tell stories. Some story boards can have a unique thing that no other story will have

Did you get your pictures taken yesterday? Did you enjoy going on the photo scavenger hunt? Why do you think I had you take those types of pictures?
I did get my pictures taken yesterday, and I thought the scavenger hunt was different than just normal class sitting at a computer all hour. I think we are going to edit photos and learn how to take long shot and medium shots ect.

What do you know about photography? When you take pictures what kind of camera do you use? Do you use your cell phone? Do you own a digital camera that is not your cell phone? Explain.

I know how to take a picture and how to edit pictures on an app on my phone. I know that there are different types of cameras and cell phone cameras aren't always the best quality camera. When I take pictures I use my cell phone, or a digital small hand held camera. I own a digital camera that's not my phone but I don't know where it is.

Prezi

Monday, March 24

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!

Over Spring Break I went to Denver to see my dad. We went to the Imagine Dragons concert and it was amazing. It was the best concert I have ever been to. The music was great and we were sitting in a suite so we didn't have to worry about lines for food or drink. We also went to Voodoo doughnuts. Its a bright pink doughnut shop in Colorado. They had really unique names for their doughnuts, and some very inappropriate ones as well. We explored some new Mexican restaurants and I got to meet my knew baby twin neighbors. I watched Frozen for the first time with my three year old neighbor and babysat. We drove home nine hours and it seemed like a thousand. The rest of my spring break was waking up going to swim practice, coming home from practice, eating, sleeping, and watching Law and Order SVU. Swimming wears me out and my sleep cycle is really messed up.

Prepare yourself... I want you to really THINK about this blog post. I mean really use your brain. What is the significance of an infographic? What is the point of pairing graphics and information together? What impact can this have on a reader or viewer. EXPLAIN.

The significance of an infographic is to understand a whole tons of information like in a normal paper and transforming it into something eye catching and colorful that intrigues the reader and makes them want take a moment and read what information is on the inforgraphic. It uses icons, pictures, color and eye catching images to attract readers. They make understanding a whole lot of information easier and quicker. I personally have learned more about some global issues through reading my peers inforgraphics. They are fun and easy for someone to make their own. When information is paired with information it gives the reader a visual so that they can picture what the information is telling them. Readers can get a visual and can understand statistics and little bits of information easier than having to go through and read a whole paper.

Inforgraphic

March 4, 2014

If you had the option of writing a 3 page paper or creating an infographic - which one would you choose? Explain yourself.

i would chose inforgraphic. Infographics are more fun to create and you can make it your own with color, fonts, and pictures. A paper is boring, and it is harder to make it unique unlike the infographic.

Friday, February 28th

How far along are you on your infographic? Will you be finished and ready to embed on to your blog by the end of the hour today? Do you think you've used your time wisely in class? Explain yourself.

I am only about one third of the way through my inforgraphic. I do not think that it will be embedded in my blog by the end f the hour because I was still learning and exploring how to use it yesterday. I do think I've used my time wisely and do need more time. I have put together all of my information and have pictures, charts and causes in my infographic, but majority of my time was used to learn about how to use all the tools and how to change fonts and colors.

SARAH HAS NOT USED HER TIME WISELY!

Thursday, February 27

Why do I have you brainstorm and collect your information in a Google Doc before putting in to final draft? Explain.

If you brainstorm your ideas before hand then it makes putting together a final draft easier because you know what to put into it and don't have to worry about the time your gonna take to think about what to put into it.

Tuesday, February 25

Yesterday I introduced you to infographics... tell me again what they are and how they are used? What is the benefit of an infographic? What goes into an infogrpahic?

Infographics are like charts that explain something but with facts, color, pictures, statistics etc. They can explain something that has a lot of details to it in a more creative way than just writing a normal essay or research paper. An infographic makes a big long paper shrink down to a fun colorful cart. There are a lot of things that can go into an inforgraphic. Causes, effects, step by step instructions, pictures, color, directions on how to do something. Inforgraphics are fun ways to present information.

Post your research paper to your blog. Give me a short (one paragraph summary) of your paper and include the link for me read your paper. Make sure you link up words! Do NOT copy and paste the ugly link. This should not be foreign to you.

My paper is about abortion. There are many causes and effects and prevention to abortion. Many expecting mothers feel the need to get an abortion because they run into conflict with their spouse, school and money. If women chose to get an abortion they can experience physical pain, emotional distress and that gives local clinics to pop up more frequently. There are ways abortion can be prevented. We can limit the number of clinics opening up by decreasing the amount of women wanting to get an abortion. Adoption and better family planning can help the mother keep the child instead of killing it.

Where are you at with your 5 paragraph essay so far? How is it coming? Is it easy to write? Difficult to write? Is it helpful that you created an outline first? Explain.

I have finished all five paragraphs. it is coming along well, but I need to go back through and add a few things. It is easy to write because I just took everything from my outline and put it all together. It is helpful because I know what goes in what paragraph and what information goes where.

Tell me about your Sweetheart weekend. If you didn't go to Sweetheart, what did you do? I want details!

I did not go to Sweetheart this weekend. Friday night I went to Winter Jam at the Sprint Center with some friends, and I had a really fun time. It was a whole lot of christian bands a singers who performed. Saturday night instead of going to Sweetheart, I went to Mi Ranchito with a group of friends and then we went bowling. I lost bowling, but I won laser tag. Sunday I tried to watch the Super Bowl, but sadly I couldn't bare to watch my team lose so I turned it off. I spent the rest of my weekend doing homework and sleeping.

Who do you look up to in life? Why? What have they done to help you or guide you?

I look up to my mom. I look up to her because she manages to have four kids and somehow manage a hectic life. She always manages to get each kid where they need to go and keeps up with her job and going to the gym six days a week. My mom played flute and made it to all state band and I too play flute and hope to achieve something just as amazing as that. My mom always makes sure that in a sticky situation I am the one to do the right thing or be the bigger person.

Tell me about the global issue you selected yesterday;restate your paragraph from yesterday.

The global issue I chose to research on is abortion. I feel very strong about abortion and that it shouldn't be an option because there are so many other good choices to chose instead of killing an innocent life.

Public Service Announcement

Monday, January 27

"If you could pick one issue in the world to fix or change what would it be and why?"

I would chose to fix bullying. I would fix bullying because bullying is an everyday problem and i see it at school and outside of school everyday and I feel that bullying needs to end. Every single person should have the right to be able to walk down the halls, talk to someone or sit some where and not have to be talked about in a negative way or be looked at like they are someone different than an average person.

Thursday, January 23rd

What is a Public Service Announcement? If you don't know what it is, Google it. In your own words, now tell me what it is? What are they used for? Can you recall an example of a PSA you've seen before?

A Public Service Announcement is a slide show, or commercial that shows an important message and makes the viewer emotionally involved. They are used to show an important problem, or message, such as child abuse or child abuse.

Tell me about your three day weekend. How was it? What did you do? Elaborate!

This weekend I went to Denver. I went to Denver to visit my dad, and while we were there we had a Broncos watch party and barbecue. We watched the Broncos game and had lots of food, and it helped that the Broncos pulled through with the win and are now going to the Super Bowl. I also babysat a neighbor because her mom was having twins.

What have you learned about Google Drive and Google Presentation so far? What do you like about it? What problems have you run in to? Is it better than PowerPoint? Explain.

I have learned that Google Drive can be accessed on any computer as long as you use the same email, and have internet access. Anything you do on Google Drive is automatically saved, you don't have to worry about saving it or your computer crashing and not having to restart something. The only problem i have run into is importing pictures, it's easy to upload pictures, but you have to make sure you have the picture saved on your computer first. I don't find it to be better than Power Point, I prefer Google Drive. Google Drive is easier to access and is easier to work in general. I will probably not use Microsoft apps again any time soon now that I have found Google Drive.

"Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted I should be able to use it."

I do not agree with the statement because the person posting the image probably didn't cite the image as someone else's image and then if you go and post the image people think it's your own image and it isn't your image until you cite it. You are basically taking credit for somebody else's image, and when we use something from a website we have to always cite it so the teacher and other people know that it is not our own work, so if we use someone else's word and have to cite it, then why is it okay to use someone else's image and say that it's okay?

What do you want to learn in the class the semester? What information do you want to walk away with that you didn't know before? Elaborate!

This semester in this class, I would like to learn how to better use how to set up papers and projects for the future. I would also like to learn how to use things on the computer in more depth. I don't know how to use and how to present everything on the computer so i would like to learn more so I can use it further in high school. I want to take away more knowledge to help me in the future.
